  • Senior Web Engineer

    Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript

    Full Time - San Francisco, CA

    As Getaround’s Senior Web Engineer, you’ll be helping to build a scalable web and mobile web apps for carsharing. We’re looking for the right person who knows how to optimize App Engine entity groups, can build out a serious load testing suite, has previously written a CommonJS application, and has recently played with all the different varieties of NoSQL databases.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Building beautiful, fast, and scalable software on the web
    • Developing features using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python
    • Developing infrastructure on Google App Engine and Amazon EC2
    • Architect-ing and developing aspects of our pub/sub event stream
    • Hacking together some cool ideas in an afternoon for feedback

    Requirements

    • CS or equivalent degree
    • Experience in Python or Ruby on Rails
    • Experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Experience with scalable web systems

    Additional Awesomeness

  • Associate Product Designer

    Iconography, Web & Mobile UI Design

    Temporary to Full Time - San Francisco, CA

    As Getaround’s Associate Product Designer, you’ll be designing for mobile, web apps, blogs, icon sets and other high-energy, fast-moving product and marketing initiatives. We’re looking for a refined but scrappy designer—someone with fresh, upbeat talent who knows the rules and trends, but isn’t scared to go out on a limb.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Designing sexy and engaging user interfaces across various platforms
    • Handling multiple, complex campaigns under tight deadlines
    • Crafting beautiful iconography to enhance our product experience
    • Collaborating across product, marketing, and engineering teams
    • Solving problems with little guidance

    Requirements

    • 3+ years of design experience across multiple platforms (web, mobile, print, etc.)
    • Competent with vector and pixel based icon sets and illustrations
    • Ability to design highly attractive and usable interfaces with pixel perfect production
    • Strong command of layout, typography, and information architecture
    • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite 4 or higher

    As Getaround’s Lead Embedded Engineer, you’ll be driving the development of the Getaround Carkit – the world's first-ever in-car device designed to securely share access to your car using only a smartphone. If you can hack a linux kernel using custom zero-day exploits (kidding... partially :), design a byte-efficient and secure mobile protocol, have heard the word "telematics" before, and enjoy being on the bleeding edge, then you'll probably love this job.     What You'll be Doing

    • Leading a team of 2-3 embedded engineers
    • Solving real-world problems with just a few megabytes of memory
    • Developing an extensible binary-efficient telematics protocol
    • Developing a testable platform for product verifcation and burn-in
    • JSON, NMEA, CAN, over PPP, WiFi, GPIO, I2C, ttyUSB

    Requirements

    • C programming in an embedded Linux environment
    • Toolchain use, the C standard library, bootstrapping software
    • Experience organizing flash memory, GPIO and I2C programming
    • Linux network programming
    • Experience in mobile communication over GPRS and 3G
    • Experience cross-compiling and writing automated build systems

    Awesomeness

    • Experience with vehicular telematics systems
    • Experience scaling back-end communications infrastructure
